Build Your Personal Brand — The Benefits of Building A Personal Brand For Marketing | TBS #056

Podcast

It isn’t a requirement to build your personal brand to succeed in business

I have tons of friends who are crushing it as entrepreneurs without ever showing their faces on camera or in public in any form. It’s not a prerequisite to be successful.

The reason I’m building my personal brand is because of a strategic decision and as a sort of “safety net” and long-term investment.

As I’m building a marketing agency, it’s also beneficial for me.

Also I get a great deal of opportunity flow because of my public appearance and growing personal brand: From job offers to become CEO of new companies, to an abundance of coaching clients, done-for-you services and networking benefits related to my brand.

To figure out if it makes sense for you to build a personal brand, ask yourself where you want to be in 5, 10 and 20 years time?

What is the big picture? What’s your vision?

If your vision includes anything that a personal brand could benefit, then I think it’s a great idea to start building it right now.

How do you want to be seen?

What channels will you use to build your credibility?

How will you leave a mark?

Those are some questions you may want to ask yourself.

But if there’s no benefit for you in the long-run, why go through the hassle.

There’s nothing wrong with having a purely corporate brand. You don’t have to build a personal brand just because others do.

There are a lot of advantages in having a personal brand, but also disadvantages. For example: if you screw up, it will be on your plate. You can’t hide behind any corporate brand. You need to deal with it.

You need to consider if the pros outweigh the cons.

Think for yourself 🙂
