Shopify Store Tips — How To Add Trust Factors To Your Shopify Store | TBS #258

Podcast

Here are a couple of tips to instantly add trust factors to your online store. This will help you convert more cold traffic into buyers.

So let’s talk about the most important ones.

1) Get a custom domain

The first thing you should do to increase the trustworthiness of your store is to get a custom domain. Your store should look like this: https://www.mystore.com. Get rid of Shopify’s subdomain.

Having your own domain name looks more professional.

It gives your website more credibility.

2) Have a sufficient logo, design and layout

I’ve mentioned in the past that design and layout aren’t that important. And that’s totally true. However, it still means you can’t totally mess up these things. Make sure you use one of Shopify’s themes, get a somewhat decent logo made and create an organised store.

Most people won’t browse around in your store, they’ll just look at the product page. So pay attention to the layout and design of that page.

3) Eliminate grammar and spelling mistakes

I see so many people who send me their ads and websites and whenever I take a quick peek, it’s full of grammar mistakes and spelling errors. This is a big no-go because it kills the trust.

Your Facebook ads can’t have any grammar mistakes or spelling errors since it’s going to kill the trustworthiness of your ad.

And it’s against Facebook’s ad policy to have mistakes.

So this can actually get you banned.

Also make sure you have no grammar or spelling mistakes on your product page or during the checkout process or other places.

4) Have a privacy policy, terms and about us section

It’s required by Facebook and often by local laws that you have a privacy policy and terms and conditions section on your website. Having this will increase the trustworthiness of your online store.

Also adding a little “about us” section can be helpful for that.

Just show your visitors that you are a legit, professional business.

5) Be transparent about shipping and other factors

Another huge factor is transparency. If you have long shipping times, don’t try to hide it. Be fully transparent about the shipping times. People will appreciate it and it won’t actually decrease conversions.

It will increase your sales because people appreciate transparency.
