How To Sell Information Products — Using Udemy Versus Creating A Membership Site | TBS #257

Podcast

If you want to sell information products you should create your own membership site instead of using some platform like Udemy.com.

Here’s why.

I’ve used Udemy in the past and there’s too many restrictions. For example, your videos need to have a certain length. You can’t have videos longer than 20 minutes. But what if I want to do a one hour, in-depth walkthrough of one of my campaigns? Udemy won’t let me.

Also they control the pricing of your courses. You can’t sell courses that are more expensive than $50 if you want your course listed.

But what if my product is worth $2,000 or even more?

Udemy won’t let me sell the course at it’s value.

Furthermore, I once uploaded an entire course on music marketing to Udemy and the quality was really good. However, Udemy reached out to me and said there was a slight white noise in the background. So they forced me to re-record my entire course in order to publish it.

That’s actually the moment I decided to leave Udemy for good.

And it was the best decision ever.

I now use ClickFunnels.com to host all my online courses. I now have full control over the pricing, marketing, layout and quality control. Basically, I can do whatever I want without having a third party messing with my business and telling me what I have to do.

The cool thing about ClickFunnels is that you can also add one-click upsells and increase the money you earn from your online courses.

This makes it easier to advertise and profit from your products.

Don’t falsely believe that Udemy is going to save you money or headache. It’s worth learning how to create your own membership site with ClickFunnels and you’ll save a lot more money long-term.

Having Udemy dictate your pricing model and interfering with your marketing is going to cost you a lot more money down the road.

If you want to make real money, don’t do it the “easy” way.

Don’t do what everyone else is doing.
