How To Sell Online Courses — Creating Information Products That Are Premium | TBS #126

Podcast

I got a question recently from Howard Wimshurst, who asked me if it’s better to create a membership site or to sell each lesson individually.

A membership site makes your life easier 🙂

If you decide to sell each lesson individually, you need to write sales letters, create landing pages and run marketing campaigns for every lesson. Your marketing and sales mojo will be very diverted.

It makes more sense to create one premium product and include all your lessons and a ton of bonuses in one program. And then double down on your sales and marketing. Write a great sales letter, or record a sales video and include some great bonuses.

This way you don’t squander your efforts across a ton of sales letter, landing pages and different marketing strategies. With a membership site you can focus on ONE powerful pitch.

Besides, in this way you’ll also be able to charge more. You could sell each lesson individually at anything between $7-$297. Or you can sell a premium online training at $997-$1997 as one single program.

Yes, the price will be higher. But price shouldn’t be a problem if you’re offering a ton of value.

Maybe you will have less conversions because the price is higher. But each conversion will be worth more.

You can also turn your program into a monthly recurring subscription. But I wouldn’t recommend that, because the drop off is high.

The benefit of you selling your program at a premium price and offer monthly installments is that people who don’t have the cash to pay the premium price can still enroll. That means you have a lot of flexibility when marketing and selling your program.

I’d say overall the benefits of having a membership site or premium program outweigh the benefits of selling each lesson individually.
