The best salesmen ask lots of questions and let the prospect do 80% of the talking before they even consider making a pitch.

Selling is much more about listening than it is about talking. You can spot an amateur by his eagerness to explain the benefits of his service or product to you, by presenting a huge checklist of features and by pitching the product the way he thinks it’s valuable.

The best of the best salesman hack their way into your mind by asking questions to uncover your hidden desires, fears and wants and by understanding exactly what and why you want it.

Once they have YOU tell THEM exactly what it is that you want, they pitch their product as the precise solution that you’re looking for.

And they do it not in their language but in yours.

When you have your next sales call or meeting, shift from 80% talking to 20% and ask questions to elicit what your prospect really wants. Take mental and written notes with key phrases and statements.

Once you know exactly what they want and why they want it, regurgitate what they just told you as the pitch for your product.

And now you can CLOSE HARD because they did the work for you.

You aren’t persuading them, you aren’t convincing them, you are using their own arguments, statements and needs (that they just told you) and pitch your product or service as the solution for it.

If they don’t buy, they will go against themselves.

They have to buy or they were lying.
