Facebook Ad Account Flagged — What To Do When Your Facebook Ad Account Gets Deactivated | TBS #194

Podcast

It’s always a shock when your Facebook ad account gets disabled. So in this post I want to share some tips and strategies to prevent and reverse your Facebook ad account from being deactivated.

Let’s start with the prevention side of things.

1) First of all, carefully read Facebook’s ad policy here:
https://www.facebook.com/policies/ads

I see so many people blindly run Facebook ads without ever taking the time to read Facebook’s ad policies. People get banned for stupid reasons like not having a privacy policy on their store, or using deceptive marketing, or phrasing their ads in a bad way.

If your Facebook ad account was banned, it’s likely that you breached Facebook’s ad policies. The only other reason to get banned is when Facebook thinks suspicious activity is going on in your account.

Make sure you carefully read their ad policy.

If you are able to re-enable your account, you want to make sure you don’t repeat the same mistakes again. And if you weren’t banned yet, now is the time to get educated and learn more about the ad policy.

2) Create backup ad accounts

Once again, people blindly advertise on Facebook without having a backup plan in place for the worst case scenario. What you should do is sign up for the Facebook business manager and create two additional ad accounts linked to your business manager.

You can create one ad account on your personal Facebook profile.

And you can create two additional ad accounts on the business manager. So that gives you a total of three ad accounts.

If shit hits the fan and one of your accounts gets banned, you already have two backup accounts that you can use. You won’t be able to promote anything you’ve promoted in the past, but at least you have the two backup accounts and can start advertising again right away.

Now let’s talk about reversing a banned account:

1) First of all, you need to stay calm and leave your emotions out of the equation. Reach out to Facebook and schedule a call with one of their experts. Getting a response per email is usually hard.

Your best bet is to schedule a phone call with Facebook.

You need a real human being on the other end of the line, so you can explain the misunderstanding and kindly ask them to re-enable your account. I’ve heard many stories of people who were able to get their banned account reactivated within minutes with a phone call.

However, I’ve barely ever heard of anyone who was able to reactivate an account using the “message” link next to the banned account.

You have to schedule a phone call, otherwise it’s very hard.

2) If you can’t get your old account reactivated, you can move on to plan b. In this case you need to use a different ad account. You either already have two backup accounts in your business manager. And if that’s not the case, you have to create a new Facebook profile.

Use your Facebook profile naturally for a few weeks or months first. Build a friend list, message with people, like posts and comment.

It needs to look natural and organic to Facebook.

After a while you can open a new ad account on that profile. However, pay very close attention to this next part.

3) You can’t promote anything you’ve promoted in the past.

Any domains or Facebook pages that you promoted on your banned ad account, have been flagged by Facebook. So if you promote them again, your new ad account will get disabled in a matter of minutes.

You need to buy a new domain, use a new Shopify subdomain, create a new Facebook page and also link new payment method.

You can’t use anything that was associated with your banned ad account. It’ll simply get your new account disabled again. So you basically have to build a new brand and online presence from scratch. However, this doesn’t mean it’s not worth doing in the long-run.

    Hi

I just got my account banned. After reading your article went and created a business account.

It let me create 2 new ad accounts.

Havent yet added the payment methods. Or tried to run ads.

Do you think it will let me run ads on those accounts created after my personal ads account was banned?

    Regards
