YouTube Marketing Tips — How Many YouTube Channels Do You Need? | TBS #318

Podcast

I recently got a question from one of my subscribers who is selling information products in the health niche. But he also sells physical products on eBay and Amazon. So he was wondering if he should use one or multiple YouTube channels to promote his products.

It really depends on the niche of all those products.

If you’re selling an information product about health, and you also sell health related products on Amazon and eBay, then use one YouTube channel for your business. That’s just what makes the most sense.

Creating a separate YouTube channel for each product you sell is a stupid idea and a productivity killer. You’ll simply burn yourself out.

If you chase too many rabbits at the same time, you catch none.

Now, if you sell products in different niches, then obviously you need a better strategy. Let’s say you sell health related online courses, but also drop ship products in the pet niche and sell an affiliate product related to soccer. Now you have three different niches to deal with.

Creating a separate YouTube channel for all three niches is going to be hard. So I recommend you pick your main niche. That should be the one you’re most passionate about or that makes the most money.

For example, if health is your passion, you could create a dedicated YouTube channel about it and really turn it into something big.

Building a YouTube channel is like building a brand.

It takes a ton of hard work and dedication, and it’s hard to build multiple channels at the same time. That’s why it’s best to pick one main YouTube channel and then put all your efforts into that channel.

That doesn’t mean you can’t promote other products in different niches. But I would probably use other strategies like Facebook ads for that. You can sell 5 products in completely different niches using Facebook ads, since there’s no “public face” attached to those.

It requires less work to scale up Facebook ads and make consistent daily sales than building up a YouTube channel with a real following.

Just use the right marketing method for the right products.

In general I think YouTube is great for information products and “gurus”, since video is an awesome way to build a relationship with people, build trust and then sell online courses to that audiences. On the other hand, drop shipping physical products works better with Facebook ads, influencer marketing or affiliate marketing methods.

Don’t think rigidly about marketing and advertising, including YouTube channels. These are all just tools that you need to use at the right time, for the right products that target the right crowd of people.
