Hiring A Virtual Assistant — How To Make Sure They Don’t Steal Your Money | TBS #107

Podcast

After hiring a virtual assistant never give your virtual assistant access to your PayPal account, Stripe dashboard or your credit card.

Use common sense when hiring your virtual assistants. Look at their reviews, ratings, work history and portfolio. Get a feeling for them. Have a Skype call with them. Work with them for awhile. And then you can give them access to your material and profiles, but always keeping things safe. You don’t need to share everything with them.

I’m not trying to make you feel paranoid, just saying that you shouldn’t do dumb stuff. There’s nothing like taking precaution to avoid problems further down the road. So let me share some tips to stay safe and secure.

Here’s a few points to have in mind:

1) Never give access to PayPal, Stripe or Merchant Accounts

2) Never give them or show them your CC number

3) When giving access to software, social media or platforms you’re using, create a new password you don’t use anywhere else

4) Make sure the email address that’s linked to the account is private and only you have access to it, so if you get locked out of your account, you can reset the password with your email

5) Don’t pay before the freelancer has done and delivered the work. And if you have to, make sure you do the research to check their legitimacy.

6) Carefully select and review your freelancers in the hiring process

7) Understand that most freelancers and VA’s are super hard working and honest and won’t ever rip you off, so don’t get paranoid

If you follow these basic rules, you should be fine.

There’s no need to panic. Your building a business, shit is going to happen. But these fears that people have usually don’t come true.

Relax 😉
