Drop Shipping On Aliexpress — Can My Card Get Blocked If I Drop Ship On Aliexpress? | TBS #327

Podcast

I recently got a question from a subscriber who asked if his credit card could get blocked if he fulfills products on Aliexpress.com.

The short answer is:

Yes.

It’s happened to me before but it was an easy problem to solve.

When I launched my first drop shipping business I was fulfilling about 5-10 orders per day with my personal credit card. After a couple of days I got a text message from my bank telling me that my card had been blocked and that I had to verify some transactions with them.

So I called the telephone number referenced in the message and talked to someone in the bank’s call centre. First of all, they checked a few things and asked questions to verify I’m really the card holder.

And then they asked me about the Aliexpress transactions.

I told them that I’m drop shipping and that everything is fine. I made them understand that there’s going to be hundreds of these little transactions every week from now on. So they went ahead and unblocked my card and ever since I never had a problem again.

So why did my credit card get blocked?

Basically, every bank has its own early warning system for fraud and credit card theft. This is an algorithm that automatically runs in the background and monitors all the activity related to your card.

If there are transactions that seem out of the ordinary, such as more frequent than usual, or transactions to foreign countries like China, the warning system might deem that suspicious and block your card. Every bank has different systems in place to determine red flags.

I’m actually happy my bank blocked my card temporarily.

Cause if someone would have stolen my credit card and bought hundreds of products in a week, we could have actually stopped it.

The bottom line is: If your card will get blocked when drop shipping on Aliexpress entirely depends on your bank and its fraud detection system. It might happen to you or you might just be fine.

But even if your card does get blocked, remember that it’s usually an easy fix. All it takes is a quick phone call and your card is unblocked.

    Hello Sir,

I am from India and I don’t have credit card, so for international transactions I usually use Entropay Virtual Credit Card. I normally use this virtual credit card for purchasing hosting services, domain and WordPress themes as well,

So my question is, can I use this virtual credit card for shopify store, and fulfilling aliexpress orders?

Though I have active PayPal business account. But in India PayPal doesn’t have authority to keep money in their PayPal account, they transfer money to our local bank account within 7 days automatically.

I was bit concerned about virtual credit card?
