Shopify PayPal Integration — PayPal Will Increase Conversions On Your Store | TBS #165

Podcast

I recently got a question from one of my subscribers who said he can’t use a credit card gateway and asked if having only PayPal Express Checkout on his Shopify store will suppress conversions.

The short answer is: Yes, it will suppress conversions.

Obviously, offering credit card payments and PayPal payments would be the ideal scenario. It would reduce the friction when people check out.

Also I’m not 100% sure you can build a Shopify store with PayPal only. However, if it’s possible, you can get away with almost anything as long as you’re selling an item that people really want. If the desire is strong enough, it will make up for the lack of payment methods.

Now, some people won’t have PayPal and might abandon the checkout.

So yes, you will inevitably lose customers doing this.

But can you get away with it? Absolutely.

Can you still have a profitable store? Absolutely.

As long as you’re selling a hot item to irrationally passionate buyers, they will do anything to get their hands on the item. Even if they have doubts and objections or don’t like the checkout options, they’ll buy.

It’s amazing how selling a hot item to the right people fixes almost all problems you have in your business, including this one here.

That being said, I would still figure out how to accept credit card payments on your store. Put in the extra work and research, there’s always workarounds no matter what country you live in. You just have to be a bit creative.

There’s so many CC processors out there.

If you offer PayPal and credit card checkouts on your Shopify store, your profit margins will be higher, you’ll get more conversions and you’ll pay less for your Facebook ads. So it’s worth getting fixed.

So if you’re dealing with this problem:

Start your store with PayPal only and see if you can get some sales. If you can get sales, that’s proof that your niche will work well.

Once you have proof, put in the extra work and get approved with a credit card processor so you can also accept credit card payments on your Shopify store. So once that is done, you can expect some more sales every day additionally to what you’ve been getting so far.
