A lot of people have been asking me about the mechanics of a Shopify drop shipping business. So today I’m going to talk about how to set up a free plus shipping offer.
When you set up your free plus shipping offer on Shopify, you don’t need some fancy plugin and you don’t need to create a special landing page. You can do it all right there on Shopify. Here are few steps you can take.
Just create a new product and add a few pics.
Set the price of the product to $0 and set the comparison price at $19.99 or something like that. Shopify will automatically put the item on sale and display a “Sale” badge on the featured image.
Give the item a certain weight, like 0.5 lbs.
And then go to the shipping settings and create a new shipping rate for the weight 0.05 lbs and set the shipping and handling to anything you want. I suggest setting shipping and handling to $9.99.
Then use the product title as a headline and describe the offer: “Get this XXX 100% FREE, you just pay shipping and handling”. This will grab their attention.
Add shipping time, shipping and handling rates and other product information in the description. Be transparent about how long it takes and how much it costs. Don’t try to hide anything, the more honest you are upfront, the better your store will run.
Make the sale smooth and clear, and you’ll make more sales. Always reduce friction in the sales process. Go straight to the point. You will make your customers happy and they will spread the word to their friends, and that may result in more customers for you.
