I recently got a question from one of my YouTube subscribers who is selling tickets online. Basically, he and his friends are buying event and concert tickets and then re-selling them at a higher price.

And he was wondering how he could get more ticket sales.

Like with any other product, when it comes to advertising, I always recommend using Facebook ads or Google AdWords.

So let me explain how I would use each advertising platform.

1) Facebook Ads

I would use Audience Insights to research fan communities and fan pages related to the artist or sports club etc. that the event is about. So if you’re re-selling a 50 Cent concert ticket, you’d look for fan pages about 50 Cent and then target those pages in your ad.

To narrow down geographically you would then also select the country or the city where the concert or event is taking place.

Now you have a highly targeted Facebook ad.

I have a friend who does marketing at a music management agency, and that’s the exact process they use to sell out huge concert halls and drive millions of dollars of revenue from Facebook ads.

2) YouTube Ads

Additionally you could also create a video advert and then use YouTube ads to promote the event tickets. In that case you would select the country or city where the event or concert is taking place and place your ad on music videos by the artist. These music videos usually have monetization enabled which means you can target them.

If you’re trying to sell sports tickets or other event tickets, you just have to be a bit more creative and find the right videos to target.

You’ll always have to put in some work and test different things when it comes to advertising. And the downside is that you have to create a new campaign or video for every event, which can be a lot of work.
