Motivation To Start Your Own Business: How To Stay Motivated To Stay In Business | TBS #014

Podcast

Finding motivation to start your business it’s the easy part. The hard part is to still be pursuing it after one year. And it’s even harder to keep pursuing it after three years even if you see little results.

What separates the wheat from the chaff is the “why” people link to building a business. In one word:

Purpose.

Why are you building your business?

If you aren’t connected to some deep primal drive like existential fear, providing for your family, an incredible desire for freedom or anything like that, it will be very hard to keep things going long-term. Otherwise you will not find motivation to start your business.

The best way to motivate yourself to succeed at business and persist during the “drought” times, is to create a scenario that forces you to succeed. Cut out any plan B, any alternative, burn the bridges.

There are many ways to burn the bridges.

Just spending so damn much time and energy on your business can make you feel like you’re already too deep down the rabbit hole.

For others it’s quitting their job.

The gist is that the initial motivation that you feel when starting your business is not going to be sustainable. That spark of motivation and inspiration will die away eventually and then you need to dig deeper for fuel: Ground your business hustle in core, existential values.

For me it’s easy: I would rather kill myself than have a boss that chokes the creativity out of me and forces me to build someone else’s “empire” without being able to harvest the fruits of my work.

It’s easy for me to get up every day and work for hours straight on my business because I’m driven by this deeper purpose.

What’s your “Why”?

Drop me a line if you want.

Hope it helps 😉
