How To Build Habits — Forming New Habits That Are Rock-Solid And Unshakable | TBS #087

Podcast

“How to build habits” it’s a common topic in the self-help/productivity communities.  A lot of people say it takes 30 days or 90 days to form new habits. I don’t believe it to be the case.

I believe that’s only the beginning!

It’s what happens after that 30-90 day period that really determines if you form a true habit and how deeply ingrained that habit will be in your subconscious mind and in your daily routine.

To be honest, it’s quite easy to do something for 30 days. Or even for 90 days. But the fall-back rate is still very high at this point. It just takes one slip, one excuse, one bad week and you’re back at square one. This has happened to me so many times, that’s why I don’t believe anymore that habits are formed in this initial phase.

If you want to build rock-solid, unshakable habits that run on autopilot just like brushing your teeth every day, I think you need to execute a task for at least 365 days. That’s when your habit really builds.

That’s also the reason why I’m doing these daily videos and posts.

This year I want to challenge you to stop building these shallow 30-90 day habits from which you’ll fall off again. Put on your big boy pants and start building new, rock-solid and unshakable habits. That’s the only way you’re going to be successful.

You have to commit. It will be harder in the begging, but then it will be just the normal day to day. You will start to feel that you need to do that habit for your day to start. When you do this for an year it will become so ingrained in your life that calling it an “habit” will not make sense anymore.

It’ll change your life, I promise 🙂
