Facebook Ad Account Banned — How Common Is It To Get Your Ad Account Disabled? | TBS #216

Podcast

There’s a lot of horror stories of people getting their Facebook ad accounts banned, so I wanted to address this topic today.

How common is it to get your Facebook ad account flagged?

In my experience it’s only common if you make common mistakes. Most of my marketing agency clients and mastermind students never get their Facebook ad account flagged since they don’t make these common mistakes and avoid doing things that raise red flags.

Here are the 3 main reasons why people get banned:

1) You breach Facebook’s ad policy

The main reason why people get their ad accounts flagged is simply because they breach Facebook’s ad policy. It’s inane how few people actually read Facebook’s ad policy before running Facebook ads.

Make sure you read their ad policy and understand it fully.

And then do everything you can to avoid breaching the ad policy.

2) Suspicious activity

If your IP address comes from a place that’s deemed risky by Facebook, like India, Africa and certain countries that engage in more spam, credit card scams and fraud, this might raise red flags.

I don’t have any proof for it, but I believe if you are based in the USA, Canada, Australia, UK or a rich European country, getting banned is less likely. Facebook just seems to care more about their customers in rich countries, and thus giving them less headache and trouble.

Another common reason to get banned for suspicious activity is if you use a VPN or proxy and change your IP address location to often.

And also entering false information when setting up your ad account or business manager might get you banned for suspicious activity. Also make sure you avoid having a mismatch between the name and address on your payment method or credit card and your account.

3) You were already banned once in the past

The third most common reason why people get their ad accounts flagged is because they already were banned once in the past.

When Facebook flags your ad account, you’re banned for life.

Theoretically, you’re not allowed to set up a new ad account. And Facebook literally flags all your domains, credit card and Facebook pages associated with your banned ad account. So if you set up a new ad account, Facebook will automatically ban you in minutes.

Once you get one account banned, it’s hard to set up a new account without getting flagged again. It’s possible, however, most people do it the wrong way and thus they get flagged again immediately.
