Coworking Space Benefits — How To Network And Be Productive In A Foreign Country | TBS #098

Podcast

I recently got a question from Steven Fernandes who is moving to Australia in a few months and is looking for ways to optimize his work environment and network with other like-minded people.

Here’s what I told him:

1) Go to a co-working space: It’s awesome to meet like-minded people, find entrepreneur friends and meet freelancers.

Plus, you will be working in an office type of environment. You’ll have other people working there and that will push you to work more. Whereas if you work in your room, your bedroom and your office are the same, and that’s not very good for your life-work balance.

I personally work from home or “on the road” simply because I have an office at home and all my video gear and other stuff, so I can work with a ton of focus and minimize distractions while working.

Currently I have an apartment that’s big enough to have an office space, and so working from “home” doesn’t ruin my productivity. I can still work from home and keep I nice distinction from my personal life and my work life, but not everybody has a house that enables them to do that.

Also I tend to expand my network through my social media marketing and people hit me up and want to meet up, which is cool.

2) Go to a ton of events hosted through Meetup.com.

This is such an awesome way to network. Just sign up for free and you can get notified about marketing, networking and entrepreneur events happening around you. Then show up, approach people, make friends, exchange information and network like crazy 🙂

This is what I did when I first came to Lisbon.

So, in your situation going to a co-working space will be a great thing.

Hope it helps 🙂
