Aliexpress Dropshipping — How Aliexpress Buyer Protection Works And How To Use It | TBS #331

Podcast

When you order something on Aliexpress.com you will be eligible for their buyer protection. This means, you can open a dispute and get a refund within a certain period of time defined by your supplier.

The buyer protection period depends on the supplier’s shipping time.

Basically, every supplier guarantees a maximum delivery time for every delivery option on Aliexpress. That means they guarantee that your product will arrive latest after 30 days for example. For longer delivery options it can be as much as 40 days or 60 days or more.

If your product doesn’t arrive within the guaranteed maximum delivery time, you can open a dispute and get your money back on Aliexpress.

If you don’t mark the order as delivered and you don’t open a dispute, Aliexpress will automatically close your order as soon as the buyer protection period is over and you won’t be able to get a refund.

Sometimes you’ll see a message on Aliexpress saying:

“Your order will be closed in 59 days”

Or something along those lines.

That’s a notice indicating how long your buyer protection is. So in 59 days, unless you mark the order as delivered or you open a dispute, your buyer protection will run out and the order will be archived.

Some people are confused about the word “closed”.

It doesn’t mean your order is somehow canceled or reversed. In this context, it simply means your buyer protection has been closed.

So how does this apply to drop shipping?

When a customer orders a product on your store, and it doesn’t arrive within the guaranteed time, he or she will usually reach out to you. In that case you can simply refund the payment and open a dispute on Aliexpress. This way you can also get a refund for your payment.

If a customer doesn’t receive the item or it’s broken and he or she only reaches out to you weeks after the guaranteed delivery time, you can still give a refund but you can’t open a dispute on Aliexpress.

In that case you would have lost some money on your side.

Alternatively, you can also create a refund policy that states the allowed buyer protection period for your own store. For example: “You are eligible for our buyer protection and can get a full refund if you reach out to info@yourstore.com within XX days after your order”. You’ll have to check the legal requirements for refunds and returns in your country. And also the country you’re selling to though, since there might be requirements you have to comply with your store.
